Damaged Air Canada aircraft lands safely Spain after hours flying circles

• An Air Canada flight headed for Toronto took off from Madrid’s Barajas airport on Monday afternoon, suffered damage throughout departure, and was forced to circle the airport for 6 and a half hours before making an emergency landing.

An Air Canada Boeing 767 flight suffered damage to its engine and burst a tire throughout takeoff, circled around the air for hours, and landed back safely in the very same airport it took off from six and a half hours later on.

The plane was carrying 128 guests and 8 team members, all of whom were unhurt, according to Reuters.

Flight Air Conditioner837 departed from the Spanish capital Madrid at 12: 55 p.m. regional time, and was scheduled to show up in Toronto, Canada at 3: 40 p.m. local time, according to flight tracking website Flight Radar.

In a declaration acquired by The Associated Press (AP), Air Canada said that shortly after departing the airplane experienced an engine concern and a burst tyre.

The airline company said that shortly after takeoff “an emergency was stated in order to get landing priority,” according to the AP.

Air Canada said the airplane circled around Madrid in an effort to “utilize up fuel and lighten the aircraft for landing,” according to CNN and ABC News.

Earlier on Monday Madrid’s Barajas airport needed to close for around 2 hours after

drones were spotted flying in the location.
