Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary, 58, made the remark during an interview with The Times, saying that “males of a Muslim persuasion” who are taking a trip alone are more likely to be “bombers” and position a greater threat to airlines than other travelers.

” You can’t say things, due to the fact that it’s racism,” O’Leary, who’s held Ryanair’s CEO position because 1994, told The Times.

O’Leary, one of the wealthiest men in Ireland, faced criticism from hate crime monitoring groups and Labour MP Khalid Mahmood, who implicated the airline company CEO of Islamophobia in a remark to Sky News.

The Muslim Council of Britain informed the Guardian: “This is the very definition of Islamophobia. Institutional discrimination versus Muslims is reputable: whether it is the capability to get a task, purchase a flat and even getting automobile insurance. The difficulties of flying while Muslim are well recorded across the globe.

Ryanair informed Sky News that O’Leary’s declarations were “just inaccurate.”

” Michael was just requiring more effective airport security checks which would do away with much of the unnecessary lines at airport security today for all travelers,” a spokesperson stated.

O’Leary’s interview with the Times consisted of a variety of disparaging remarks, consisting of calling the requirement for wheelchair centers on every floor of a Dublin office building “total and utter rubbish.” He made fun of transgender rights and the need for gender-neutral bathrooms; and called obese travelers “beasts” who should consider buying 2 seats.
