American 787

A couple of weeks ago American Airlines suspended all flights to Beijing, Hong Kong, and Shanghai, through late April. They’re now extended suspensions to one of their two remaining locations in Asia.

American Airlines suspends Seoul Incheon flights

It has actually today been announced that American Airlines will be suspending their route between Dallas and Seoul Incheon between March 4 and April 24, 2020

The path is presently run daily by a Boeing 787 -9, and is expected to resume on April 25, 2020.

American Airlines will be getting in touch with clients impacted by these cancelations, and consumers on canceled flights can either pick to be rebooked, or can receive a full refund.

What about Delta and United?

Currently, Delta and United continue to run flights to Seoul:

American’s only staying destination in Asia is Tokyo

As it stands, American’s only remaining location in Asia is Tokyo, as the airline company flies to Haneda and Narita:

  • American flies to Tokyo Haneda from Los Angeles, and is supposed to get a new flight from Dallas since late March
  • American flies to Tokyo Narita from Dallas and Los Angeles, though the Dallas flight is anticipated to end in late March, when the flight changes to Haneda

Bottom line

Need for air travel is down across the board, specifically for travel to & from Asia. It’s not unexpected to see American suspend their Seoul flight, implying at this point their only destination in Asia is Tokyo.

I question if they’ll reduce Tokyo frequencies next, and if the suspended paths will actually resume in late April …

On top of all of this, American has also suspended both of their paths to Milan

Are you shocked to see American cut ICN flights?
