Coronavirus Sets Off Record Drops in U.S., European Company Activity

The U.S. and Europe saw record decreases in organisation activity in March, as economic activity slowed all over the world due to steps focused on containing the new coronavirus.

Data firm IHS Markit said its composite purchasing supervisors index for the U.S.– an aggregate step of activity in the production and services sectors– dropped to a seasonally adjusted 40.5 in March from 49.6 in February.
