Hotels reeling from the outbreak of the coronavirus are cutting room rates and beginning to minimize staff, an effort to support the service after plunging income, canceled group occasions and sharp declines in business travel.
The U.S. hotel industry took in a direct blow during the first week of March with profits per offered room, or RevPAR, a crucial performance metric, falling 11.6%, hotel information company STR stated.
