Cruise liner reservations for 2021 are already rising despite multiple COVID-19 break outs

• Despite several outbreaks of COVID-19 on cruise ships in 2020, bookings for cruises are already on the increase of 2021, according to numerous reports.
• In the past 45 days– as numerous cruise ships had severe COVID-19 outbreaks onboard– the cruise scheduling site CruiseCompete.com saw a 40%increase in its reservations for 2021 over its 2019 reservations.

  In the past 45 days as several cruise ships had severe COVID-19 outbreaks onboard and, in numerous cases, were stranded for days prior to finding a location prepared to let them dock and offload passengers, CruiseCompete.com saw a 40%increase in its 2021 cruise bookings compared to 2019, the company informed the Los Angeles Times.

  The two biggest outbreaks took location on the Diamond Princess and Ruby Princess cruise ships, both run by Carnival Cruise Corporation.

  In the wake of many coronavirus outbreaks onboard, the CDC has banned Carnival, Norwegian Cruises, and Royal Caribbean cruise lines

  from cruising in US waters up until a minimum of July. Those three business alone represent $60 billion of the cruise line market.

  Now that cruise lines have had to cancel trips or sail empty ships, employees at lines consisting of Holland America, Princess Cruises, and Australia-based P&O Cruises are dealing with pay cuts and layoffs, Business Insider’s Mark Matousek reported on Friday.
