Kroger reports first 4 COVID-19 deaths of supermarket workers in Michigan

( WTOL 11)— Kroger is reporting what are believed to be the first COVID-19 deaths of supermarket workers in Michigan.

The nationwide supermarket chain Saturday said four Kroger workers who operated at stores on the east side of Michigan have passed away. “We are grieving along with their families during this extremely tough time,” said a statement from Ken DeLuca, the president of Kroger of Michigan.

The Kroger personnel members who died worked at stores in Northville, Troy, Grosse Point and Livonia, which are all situated near Detroit.

Kroger states it is taking additional steps to guarantee the security of staff and customers, consisting of boosted day-to-day sanitation practices, motivating staff members to use masks, setting up plexiglass partitions at check out lanes, including signage for social distancing between customers and limiting the number of clients in the shop.
