Reporting for Coronavirus Responsibility: Robotics That Go Where Humans Worry to Tread

All over the world, hundreds of engineers, scientists and software developers are at work constructing a robotic army with a bold mission: to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

There are robotics bedecked with lamps that bathe surfaces in unnoticeable radiation, robots with sufficient autonomy to safely exist side-by-side with human beings while sterilizing floors 24/ 7, robotics that can scan for fevers and impose mask-wearing, even robots that spew antimicrobial gas in outside areas. (That technique, researchers say, is most likely futile.)
