Walmart and Target limit number of shoppers in stores amid coronavirus pandemic

Walmart and Target revealed this week they will begin limiting the variety of individuals who will be allowed inside their stores at one time in an effort to promote social distancing. The Centers for Illness Control and Avoidance advises that people remain at least six feet apart from each other, in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus

” To promote social distancing with its team and guests, Target will monitor store traffic, and meter, or limitation, the number of guests inside shops, when needed,” checks out a press release from the business. “Occupancy limitations will vary by location and be identified by the store’s specific square video footage to improve the typical area per person and lower the possibility of congestion.

Target’s executive vice president and chief running officer, John Mulligan, stated the measures “are aimed at ensuring we are creating a safe environment for the visitors who continue to turn to Target.” The store also said it would provide workers at their shops and warehouse with face masks and gloves “to wear at the beginning of every shift and highly encourage that they be used while working.”

On Friday, Walmart announced similar changes, likewise to go into result Saturday. The retailer issued occupancy limitations based on square video, and said customers will be counted as they go into.

Walmart likewise stated it will begin to “make gloves and masks offered” to employees who want them.
