Brazil’s health minister, Nelson Teich, resigned Friday after simply four weeks in workplace, leaving South America’s most significant nation without a top health official as the coronavirus pandemic rages there and across much of Latin America.
Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Chile posted record increases in the numbers of brand-new cases this week, even as they made plans to resume their economies to avoid additional damage from what is anticipated to be Latin America’s worst economic depression.
