Teledentistry business SmileDirectClub Inc. took legal action against Comcast Corp.’s NBCUniversal, looking for nearly $3 billion in damages for what it declares were defamatory news reports about the business’s treatment techniques.
The fit, submitted Monday in a Tennessee court, focuses on a Feb. 13 “NBC Nightly News” segment that explained complaints by some SmileDirectClub clients and cautions about teledentistry from an orthodontics teacher.
