Fox cut away from a disturbing Portland video shown at WH briefing

A bizarre episode unfolded at Friday’s White Home press instruction when press secretary Kayleigh McEnany kicked things off by playing a video of protesters clashing with federal police in Portland, Oregon.

McEnany was accusing “the media” of neglecting the demonstrations, which she referred to as “riots.”

The supercut video showed demonstrators setting up barriers, lighting various things on fire, surrounding somebody in a camouflage uniform, and other disorderly scenes consisting of statues being toppled along with demonstrators forming a wall of unscripted riot guards.

Shots of graffiti with expletives and a protester telling cops they “hope someone kills your whole f– ing family” were also shown on the monitors behind McEnany while she was still being brought live by the network.

Fox News host Harris Faulkner addressed the choice to cut away twice however did not specify if the violence or profanity– which appeared to be bleeped out of the White House audio– was the primary reason for turning away from the briefing.

” We were not expecting that video, and our management here at Fox News has chosen we will cut away at this time,” Faulkner said right after the network cut away.

” FOX News was not supplied with any advance caution that a video using blasphemy would air throughout this afternoon’s White Home press rundown,” a network representative informed Organisation Expert in a declaration.

The Justice Department’s internal watchdog announced Thursday that it opened an investigation into the actions of federal law-enforcement agents in Portland.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz announced that his workplace released the probe in response to demands from Democratic lawmakers and Oregon Attorney general of the United States Ellen Rosenblum.

The Justice Department’s Office of the Inspector General will coordinate its examination with the Department of Homeland Security’s inspector general, Horowitz said.

Portland made headlines this month following the appearance of over 100 unidentified federal agents who have been seen driving unmarked vans and pulling protesters off the streets. Trump stated he sent agents to the city to tamp down on violent criminal activity and recommended it was linked to demonstrations over the killing of George Floyd.

Over the weekend, Rosenblum stated her state was suing the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Defense, and other federal firms to “stop the federal police from covertly stopping and by force getting Oregonians off our streets.”

Oregon Sens. Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden likewise spoke out versus the events and explained agents patrolling the streets of Portland as a paramilitary force.

On Wednesday, Trump revealed he would deploy federal representatives to other US cities, including Chicago and Albuquerque, New Mexico, in a dramatic escalation of the White House’s crackdown on anti-racism presentations in the wake of Floyd’s death.

Both Trump and Barr linked the current uptick in violent crime to the protests, however neither provided any proof to support their claims.
