HONG KONG– As China drew up a new security law for Hong Kong last month, its leading Foreign Ministry authorities in the city gathered worldwide service groups and diplomats to deliver a message from Beijing: Do not panic.
The law would target just a little group of radicals and wouldn’t hinder the free enterprise values behind Hong Kong’s increase as a worldwide company hub, the official stated. Now that businesspeople are finally seeing the law, there is much to trigger concern.
