Twitter Inc. said it would step up enforcement against fans of the QAnon conspiracy theory, ending up being the first major platform to take aggressive action to limit the spread of a discredited movement that has festered online for years.
A Twitter representative said the business has banned more than 7,000 QAnon-related accounts in current weeks, restricted the distribution of 150,000 others and would no longer highlight posts related to QAnon in searches or suggestions.
