Those rappers, many of whom are currently the chauffeurs of streetwear culture, might become the spokespeople for a greener environment.

Then there’s the prospective impact on fans.

That may be a fictional world right now, however in a current interview with Service Insider, world-renowned DJ Steve Aoki said the power of music is so enormous that it’s not out of the question.

” When you have certain artists using particular brand names– it builds upon the community and assists build upon the culture of streetwear, of hip hop, of whatever else music that’s developing,” Aoki stated. “Music works together with fashion … [and] music is among the most crucial ways to form culture, period.”

Samata Pattinson, the CEO of Red Carpet Green Dress, a business that places sustainable dress on red carpets, advanced this idea. She informed Company Insider she thinks there might be a link in between music, fashion, and the sustainable fashion movement– which means that an imaginary world where rap artists sing about environment-friendly looks does not need to be so far off.

‘ Music goes together with style’

Music is one of the most powerful cultural impacts worldwide, and hip hop is t he top music category in America That indicates that hip hop artists have an outsize influence on the world around them.

” Part of the identity of music is talking, is discussion, is lyrics,” Aoki stated. “That’s how culture is created a lot of the time, since of how certain artists will state the very same thing and become combined with that concept.”

To put it simply, if well-known artists began singing and talking more about sustainability and pushing more for eco-conscious alternatives, it could make those suitables appear “cool” to their audiences.

And as Pattinson of Red Carpet Green Dress explains, there’s currently been some movement in that direction.

” We can see that musicians and cultural icons are discussing sustainability,” Pattinson stated. They’re not singing about it yet, but they are using their platform to interact with the audience.”

” For an antiquated, actually developed, old organization, it’s not about being cool– it’s about the bottom line,” Pattinson continued.

Music has the power to make sustainability desirable

But if there is a link between music, style, and sustainability, a synergy will need to be produced in order to bring the subject of sustainability beyond one track on an album and one collection in a season.

Aoki mentioned that six months frequently pass between a style collection being shown and in fact dropping. Meanwhile, artists can drop one single one week, and a totally various one the next. A recurring cycle would need to exist between the 2 in order to start the combination of sustainability into everyday discussion.

The hope, Pattinson said, is that one day, a brand-new generation of leaders will emerge who matured in a culture that stabilized eco-conscious behavior. Music might be the bridge to make sustainability preferable– and to begin the conversation now amongst the young consumers who are poised to end up being the world’s next changemakers.

” We do not need to wait 5 to 10 years for this young generation to get experience. We can coach them, we can give them the experience now,” Pattinson said. “However we require to look beyond the fashion business for this dialogue, and it might be through music.”
