Images from space station show SpaceX landing website and line of boats

• Images from the International Space Station captured the historical landing of SpaceX’s first crewed mission from 250 miles above Earth.
• The pictures from space show the boats that swarmed the capsule after splashdown– many of them civilian onlookers.

  NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley, tucked inside SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spaceship, made it through a fiery plunge through Earth’s environment on Sunday. They landed securely in the Gulf of Mexico, a return that marked the completion of the very first human space objective in a business automobile.

  As the toasted capsule bobbed in the water, its parachutes floating around it, it was quickly swarmed by boats. A few of them were healing boats with expert groups from NASA and SpaceX. However many were simply observers.

  The US Coast Guard had cleared the location ahead of the landing, Bridenstine discussed, but after the capsule splashed down, “the boats simply made a beeline for it,” he said.

  A few of the boats passed very near the pill, including one with a traveler waving a Trump flag.

  ” Possibly next time we should not announce our landing zone,” SpaceX engineer Kate Tice said during NASA’s live feed of the landing.

  In a declaration issued to CBS, the Coast Guard said that it warned boaters several times ahead of the splashdown with radio alerts and physical cautions, yet lacked an order to legally implement a danger zone.

  Bridenstine pledged that NASA would “do a better task” of clearing boats for future water landings.

  Having spectator boats that close to the pill can be unsafe– both for the astronauts and for individuals on the boats.

  The recovery groups had to wait for the gas to clear prior to they got rid of Behnken and Hurley from the capsule.
