Job Search Tips: TikTok and Twitter are starting to speak about a possible combination, WSJ reports

Amidst President Donald Trump’s risks to ban TikTok, or require it to sell its US operations, Twitter was reported to be in talks with the video-sharing app Saturday night.
The Wall Street Journal reported that a possible deal, if it materializes, might include TikTok’s US operations.
Both Twitter and TikTok declined to comment on the report to Organisation Expert.

Another tech giant was reported to be on TikTok’s dance card Saturday night– Twitter.

The Wall Street Journal’s Georgia Wells and Cara Lombardo reported the two popular apps are in “initial” talks for a possible mix. “Individuals acquainted with the matter” told the paper that an offer, which it stated Twitter may not end up pursuing, would involve TikTok’s United States operations.

Twitter declined to comment on the report to Business Insider. TikTok’s head of business communications Josh Gartner said, “We do not discuss market rumors.”

President Donald Trump has been harping on the popular video-sharing app to ditch its Chinese moms and dad company, ByteDance, mentioning security concerns Recently, Trump stated he would “prohibit” the app, which he can’t precisely do, if ByteDance does not sell.

Microsoft was seen as the frontrunner for a deal last week, with quotes for a prospective offer for TikTok’s United States operations at $10 billion and $30 billion, Organisation Expert’s Paige Leskin reported

It’s uncertain what a Twitter-TikTok deal might look like, how much it might cost, or how Twitter could spend for it. The WSJ explained that Twitter’s market cap has to do with $29 billion, while Microsoft’s surpasses $1.6 trillion.

” Since it is much smaller, Twitter has actually reasoned that it would be unlikely to face the exact same level of antitrust scrutiny as Microsoft or other possible bidders, said individuals acquainted with the conversations,” Wells and Lombardo wrote.

Twitter has about 186 million users, according to its newest earnings at the end of July. TikTok has more than 100 million users in the United States alone.
