Trump gets verified account on TikTok rival Triller

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump now has a confirmed account on TikTok rival Triller, another indication of the White House’s disfavor towards the ByteDance-owned video-sharing app.

Triller is among numerous TikTok alternatives that have actually experienced a surge of downloads because Trump signed an executive order on Aug. 6 that would prohibit certain deals with TikTok unless ByteDance divests it within 45 days.

Trump on Friday bought ByteDance to divest the U.S. operations of TikTok within 90 days.

TikTok is best understood for viral dance videos that capture the American teenage zeitgeist, but U.S. authorities have expressed concerns that user details might be gone by the Chinese-owned app on to authorities in Beijing.
