California officials cautioned that as numerous as three million energy customers might lose power Sunday night, as parts of the state suffer record-breaking temperature levels.
The California Independent System Operator, which runs much of the state’s electrical grid, said it expected a 4,000- megawatt power supply shortage, driven partly by import constraints and wildfires impacting transmission lines in parts of the state.
