LAS VEGAS (FOX5)– An ill traveler was eliminated from a Southwest Airlines airplane as a preventative measure after a flight from Las Vegas to Baltimore on Saturday morning.
In an email, Southwest Airlines confirmed medical workers met the airplane when it landed in Baltimore:
Local medical personnel fulfilled Flight 2889 once it came to the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport from Las Vegas due to reports of an ill Consumer. Out of an abundance of caution, and because of the current issues of the coronavirus, our Team followed recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control for responding to issues to make sure the Customer, and those taking a trip with them, receive the help or assistance they may require.
Kelly Rowe was flying back to Baltimore after visiting her mom in Las Vegas.
She stated flight attendants talked with officials in Baltimore about the situation on board.
” He kept putting his head on the seat and sort of leaning back like he wasn’t feeling great,” Rowe said.
The flight team brought the ill traveler some medicine, according to Rowe.
” And the lady stated, ‘My other half’s not going to take these.’ And she stated, ‘No, you will take these otherwise this airplane is landing today.’ It was scary since they didn’t even tell him what he was taking. That was kind of odd,” Rowe said.
The ill traveler took the medication while a flight attendant wrote down the male’s travel details.
The sick passenger and his better half were taken off the plane initially, but other travelers were held on the plane while medical professionals talked on the intercom.
Rowe saw the coronavirus in the news, however the in-flight scenario got her thinking.
Following examination by medical personnel, the individual was released.
