A former top executive at Newsweek’s one-time moms and dad business pleaded guilty Friday to state fraud and money-laundering charges for his function in a plan to illegally acquire more than $35 million in funding, a few of which went to keep the struggling news organization afloat.
Etienne Uzac, the previous co-owner and chairman of IBT Media, Inc., was one of four offenders to go into guilty pleas this week in what prosecutors called a global personality of the case, in which “all the necessary celebrations” would plead guilty.
