WASHINGTON– The Pentagon has recognized more than $5 billion in programs from which it wishes to shift money to money higher-priority efforts, according to a draft spending plan document evaluated by The Wall Street Journal.
The targets for reduced financing consist of the “right-sizing” of about 50 medical centers across the nation, combining some logistics operations and minimizing the subsidy for Stars and Stripes, the military’s independent newspaper, the draft document stated.
